Celebration gets bigger every year
| by Scott Rogers - posted Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 @ 10:15 am | |
When Fred Huenefeld took over the annual Fourth of July parade down Pargoud Boulevard, he had a pickup truck loaded with a bunch of watermelons and about 50 followers.
Over the past several years, the parade has drawn thousands of local residents who bring their children to celebrate July 4th.
Last year, about 1,500 people took part in the parade, and Huenefeld estimates about 85 percent of them were children.
He anticipates that many more will join in the parade, which begins 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Beloit and Pargoud Boulevard. |
